Dandora Jamii mosque has embarked on an ambitious Waqf(endowment) project to enhance on income generation to cater for the needs of the local Muslim communities
The proposed modern stall units estimated to cost Ksh 450,000 will form part of the waqf properties when developed and the proceeds will be used to support the welfare of the local Muslims in education, health and other social needs where necessary.
According to the Mosque chairman, Sheikh Salim Charo the proposed project will provide commercial space which will be leased and rented out to generate income to support social development programmes and help meet the day-to-day running cost of the Mosque.
''We are looking towards improving the socio-economic welfare of the local Muslim community and stop stretching our hands out to people.These stalls will serve as waqf a sustainable income generating project that will support social development programmes and help meet the day-to-day running cost of the Mosque,'' said Sheikh Charo.
He noted that there is an increased in number of unfortunate and needy Muslims who are in need of assistance but due to financial constraints the mosque committee is unable to give the needed support,hence the driving force behind the setting up of the project.
Sheikh Charo urged the local Muslim community to pool their few resources and support the initiative for the pleasure of Allah, adding that all that they owned belong to Allah hence it was important for them to sacrifice for the cause of Allah's work.
He appealed for well-wishers, donors and the Muslim charitable organizations to come out and support the initiative for the benefits of the community.
