The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced the recruitment of 2,014 new teachers to fill vacancies left by those who exited service in public primary, junior, and secondary schools. The move, which comes as part of the government’s efforts to strengthen the teaching workforce, is expected to ease pressure in many understaffed schools and ensure uninterrupted learning for thousands of learners. Primary schools have been given 1,309 of the total openings, junior secondary schools have been allocated 32, and senior secondary schools have been given 673. Successful candidates will receive long-term benefits and job security as all appointments will be made on permanent and pensionable terms.
According to TSC, candidates must be citizens of Kenya, registered with the Commission, and possess a P1 certificate for primary school teachers or an education diploma for junior and senior secondary school teachers, with a minimum KCSE grade of C+ in two teaching subjects. Applications will be submitted online only through the TSC careers portal at teachersonline.tsc.go.ke. The deadline for submissions is Monday, 19th May 2025, at midnight.
