Humanitarian organization Mountain of Mercy has completed its second food distribution in Gaza this Ramadan, delivering 500 essential food ration packs to the most vulnerable and needy families amid ongoing hardship in the region.
The distribution targeted displaced and struggling households facing severe food shortages amid the humanitarian crisis in the region. The initiative is part of the organization’s broader campaign to mobilize donations and deliver life-saving support to affected communities in Gaza.
Mountain of Mercy has been actively collecting donations to provide life-sustaining aid, focusing on food security for those displaced and affected by the prolonged crisis in Gaza.
Each food ration pack contains vital staples designed to help families prepare nutritious iftar meals and sustain them through fasting days.
This latest distribution follows the organization's ongoing commitment to Gaza. Last year, Mountain of Mercy partnered with the Dignity for Palestinians Campaign to sponsor a Community Kitchen Project. That effort provided hot, freshly prepared meals to over 540 displaced families living in various camps across the region, helping restore a sense of normalcy and community amid displacement.
Shenaz Abdulwahid, the Kenya Country Director for Mountain of Mercy, highlighted the importance of continued global support. “Many families in Gaza are struggling to access basic necessities such as food and clean water. We urge Muslims and all people of goodwill to continue extending their support so that we can reach more families in need,” she said.
"Your generosity is making a tangible difference bringing relief, sustaining hope, and embodying the true spirit of mercy during this blessed month."
Mountain of Mercy, a UK-based charity with operations including in Kenya, emphasizes transparent aid delivery, directing 100% of donations to those in need. The organization continues to appeal for contributions to expand its relief work in Gaza and other vulnerable areas worldwide.
Israel has been facing mounting outrage over its deadly war on Gaza, where it has killed more than 61,000 people since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave and brought it to the verge of famine.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
