Mountain of Mercy UK has launched a special Ramadhan Iftar campaign aimed at supporting families affected by the ongoing drought crisis in northeastern Kenya.
A severe drought has devastated livelihoods across the region, leaving communities without food or access to safe water. Rivers and wells have dried up, livestock are dying, and families especially women and children are forced to walk for hours in search of water.
According to the latest National Drought Management Authority (NDMA) report, Mandera County is currently in the “Alarm” phase, while Wajir, Garissa, Marsabit, and Turkana remain on Alert. More than 1.8 million people are facing acute food insecurity, a situation expected to worsen without urgent humanitarian intervention.
In response, Mountain of Mercy UK is mobilising resources this Ramadhan to provide life-saving assistance to the most vulnerable families in the affected areas. The Iftar campaign seeks to ensure that struggling households are able to break their fast with dignity during the holy month.
Through the campaign, the organisation aims to support: Emergency food and Iftar meal distribution, Water trucking and delivery to affected villages, Sustainable community water solutions and Direct support to the most vulnerable families, including children, the elderly, and widows
“Water is life, yet thousands of families currently have none,” the organisation noted, calling on well-wishers to act urgently. “This Ramadhan is an opportunity to save lives, ease suffering, and earn immense reward by supporting those facing extreme hardship.”
Mountain of Mercy UK is appealing to individuals, institutions, and corporate partners to contribute towards the campaign and help alleviate hunger and thirst in drought-stricken communities.
