Muslim Women Gather in Nairobi for ‘Guardians of Values’ Conference

By Urban Shihemi, December 25,2025

Golden Hope Al Khairat Organization is hosting its 3rd Annual Muslim Women Conference at Masjid Riyadha in Pumwani, Nairobi, under the theme “Guardians of Values.” The forum has brought together Muslim women from different parts of the country to reflect on their role in nurturing faith, morals and positive community values.

Speaking during the event, Ustadha Aisha Hussein, Chairlady of the Golden Hope Al Khairat Daawah Group, said the conference aims to create a platform for meaningful engagement on issues affecting Muslim women, including faith, family and community life.

“The third Muslim Women Conference brings together women from diverse backgrounds to engage in meaningful discussions on faith, family and community matters,” said Ustadha Aisha. “It is a significant step towards empowering Muslim women, especially those from Majengo, who face unique social and economic challenges.”

Acting Chief Kadhi Sheikh Sukyan Omar underscored the importance of women actively participating in daawah activities and halakats, noting that such platforms are vital in spreading knowledge and strengthening Islamic values within families and society.

“Women play an important role in the community, hence the need to engage them in open conversations on issues that affect them, including matters of marriage,” said Sheikh Sukyan Omar.

He added that informed and empowered women are central to guiding future generations and safeguarding moral standards. His remarks were echoed by Sheikh Hassan Makokha, an education officer at Zakat Kenya and an invited speaker at the conference.

“It is important for women to be actively engaged, especially at this time when the world is witnessing celebrations that are not related to Islam,” said Sheikh Makokha.

Beyond discussions on family and personal development, the conference is also addressing the sensitive issue of Christmas celebrations, which many Muslims are exposed to during the festive season. Ustadha Aisha Hussein said the timing of the conference was deliberate, aimed at offering Muslim women meaningful alternatives centered on spiritual growth.

She explained that the initiative seeks to help women focus on what pleases their Creator by deepening their understanding of faith and practicing values rooted in Islam.

Sheikh Makokha added that the annual conference plays a key role in empowering Muslim women with knowledge, confidence and a strong sense of identity.

Ustadha Aisha noted that Golden Hope Al Khairat Organization remains committed to creating safe spaces where women can learn, share experiences and reinforce values that positively impact their families and the wider community.
