Royal Eye and Ear Hospital Holds Free Medical Camp at Jamia Mosque Nairobi to Mark 100 Years of Service and Faith

By Mariam Lanji Msah , October 28, 2025: In celebration of the centenary of Jamia Mosque Nairobi, the Royal Eye and Ear Hospital partnered with the Jamia Mosque Committee to host a free medical camp offering vital health services to hundreds of Nairobi residents. The event, held at the multi purpose hall of the Jamia mosque Nairobi, underscored the mosque’s century-long commitment to community service, compassion, and human dignity. The camp provided free eye and ear checkups, consultations, and minor treatments to congregants and members of the wider public. Medical professionals from the Royal Eye and Ear Hospital screened patients for conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, hearing loss, and other sensory impairments. Those requiring advanced treatment were referred for follow-up care at the hospital. Speaking during the event, Karen Wanjiku from the Royal Eye and Ear Hospital emphasized the importance of accessible healthcare, especially for vulnerable populations. “Vision and hearing are among the most essential senses that define quality of life. By bringing these services to the community, we reaffirm our commitment to preventive healthcare and early detection,” said Karen Wanjiku corporate marketing representative . The Jamia Mosque Committee, in marking 100 years of the mosque’s existence, highlighted the medical camp as one of several activities celebrating a century of faith, unity, and service to humanity. “For a hundred years, Jamia Mosque has stood not only as a place of worship but also as a center of social and community development. This medical camp reflects our mission to serve all people, regardless of background, with compassion and care,” said Br.Said Abdalla, Executive officer of the Jamia Mosque Committee. Over the course of the day, hundreds of individuals benefited from the free screenings and consultations.
