Sokimaus Sisters a Community-Based Organization (CBO), in partnership with Veteran Mission Hospitals, will on February 7, 2026, host a 10-kilometre Iftar Charity Walk aimed at raising funds to support needy families during the holy month of Ramadhan.
The feeding program has entered its fourth consecutive year with the walk being the second in partnership with Zakat Kenya, will start at Syokimau Jamia Mosque and is expected to bring together community members, faith leaders, health practitioners, and well-wishers in a show of solidarity with vulnerable households.
“This initiative seeks to raise funds to provide Ramadhan food packs to nearly 200 needy families. The food assistance will include essential staples such as rice, maize flour, wheat flour, sugar, cooking oil, salt, dates, and other basic items required for daily meals and iftar,” said Rukiya Mohammed, one of the organisers.
Rukiya noted that the annual walk has become a key platform for mobilising community support particularly during Ramadhan, a period marked by generosity and care for the less fortunate.
“The Iftar Charity Walk is about more than just walking; it is about walking together as a community to ensure no family goes hungry during Ramadhan,” she said.
Members of the public have been urged to participate in the walk or support the initiative through financial contributions. Donations can be made via M-Pesa Paybill number 247247, Account 751598.
The organisers expressed optimism that this year’s walk will surpass previous fundraising targets and help sustain the growing demand for food assistance among vulnerable families in the Syokimau area and its surroundings.
