By Urban Shihemi, Nairobi , November 1, 2025 Jamia Mosque Nairobi Imam, Sheikh Jamaludin Osman, has announced that ten people have embraced Islam during the mosque’s ongoing Open Day, held as part of activities marking its 100 years of existence. Speaking after the open day event, Sheikh Jamaludin said the Open Day has provided a unique opportunity for members of the public to learn about Islam firsthand and engage with scholars and volunteers. He noted that many visitors expressed appreciation for the openness and hospitality shown by the mosque community. “Today, ten people have accepted Islam after finding clarity and answers to their questions. The Open Day has helped dispel long-held misconceptions about our faith,” said Sheikh Jamaludin. The event, themed “A Century of Peaceful Coexistence,” attracted hundreds of visitors from diverse backgrounds eager to understand Islamic teachings and the mosque’s role in promoting interfaith harmony. Throughout the day, visitors toured the mosque’s facilities, interacted with volunteers, and participated in a Question and Answer session led by scholars including Sheikh Ibrahim Lethome, addressing topics on faith, peace, and social coexistence. Sheikh Jamaludin emphasized that Jamia Mosque will continue to open its doors to all Kenyans, regardless of background or belief, as part of its mission to foster unity, understanding, and peaceful coexistence. “Jamia Mosque belongs to the community. Our doors remain open for dialogue and learning, because Islam stands for peace and compassion,” he added. The Open Day is among several events organized to commemorate Jamia Mosque Nairobi’s centenary, which also includes exhibitions, a book launch, and the relaunch of Jamia TV.
