Kenyan Troops Conduct Medical Outreach in Afmadow, Treat Over 100 Residents

By Urban Shihemi, November 1, 2025 Kenyan troops serving under the African Union Support Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) have conducted a medical outreach program at Afmadow General Hospital, providing free treatment and healthcare services to more than 100 local residents. The exercise, held at the Afmadow Main Operating Base (MOB), aimed to improve access to basic healthcare for the local community while strengthening relations between AUSSOM forces and the residents of Afmadhow. Led by Officer Commanding Maj. Daniel Anagwe, the Medical officers attached to the Kenyan contingent performed the treatment for common illnesses and health education on nutrition, maternal care, hygiene, and disease prevention. Afmadhow Hospital Director Mr. Ahmed Mahamud praised the AUSSOM KDF team for their efforts, saying such initiatives strengthen public trust and promote stability during peace operations. This outreach underscores AUSSOM’s commitment to advancing peace, security, and community well-being across Somalia. The medical outreach is part of AUSSOM’s civil-military cooperation programs, designed to enhance goodwill, build trust, and support recovery efforts in liberated areas of southern Somalia.
